A post-launch take on the vertical pirate city builder from Limbic Entertainment and publisher Hooded Horse.
What it is
Corsair Cove is a single-player strategy game about building tall, not wide, made by Limbic Entertainment (historical-strategy pedigree) and published by Hooded Horse. You carve a pirate haven into cliff-faces, run long production chains across elevations, keep a rowdy crew fed and cohesive, and eventually launch ships to raid islands and fight the Crown in turn-based naval combat.
Strengths
- The vertical hook is real. Building onto cliffs and stitching levels with bridges, cranes, elevators, and ziplines is a genuine design twist, not a reskin of a flat-terrain builder.
- Logistics depth. With 50-plus goods and colour-coded supply paths, the production-chain puzzle is the star, and it clicks satisfyingly once your base is stable.
- Four divergent pillars. Notoriety, Empire, Seafaring, and Wealth each reshape your buildings and ships, so replays diverge.
- Day-one PC Game Pass. Low friction to try it if you already subscribe.
Weaknesses
- The naval half is weaker. Turn-based card-and-dice combat is fine but less deep than the building core; some players find pacing uneven.
- Single-player only. No co-op, so it's a solo management commitment, not a group night.
- Can sprawl into busywork. Late-game path management and micromanagement can fatigue players who wanted a tighter loop.

At its launch price and with day-one Game Pass, Corsair Cove is an easy recommend for city-builder fans. It won't replace a deep grand-strategy wargame, but as a "build a pirate haven upward and keep the crew alive" experience it's among the most distinctive of its kind in 2026. Buy it if you enjoy watching a logistics puzzle come together.
